5 Essential Pilates Exercises to Try on a Trapeze Table

January 15, 2024April 15, 2024by balance.pilatesin Blog

Pilates is a popular form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the core, improving posture, and increasing overall flexibility and mobility. One of the most versatile and fun ways to practice Pilates is on a trapeze table, also known as a Cadillac. Here are five essential Pilates exercises to try on a trapeze table.

  1. Pendulum Swings: This exercise targets the core, hips, and legs. Start by lying on your back with your heels in the trapeze table’s foot straps. Inhale and lift your hips off the table, then exhale and swing your legs back and forth like a pendulum. Keep your core engaged and your arms by your sides.
  2. Arm Circles: This exercise targets the upper body, including the shoulders and arms. Start by sitting on the edge of the trapeze table with your feet on the floor. Hold onto the trapeze bar with both hands and extend your arms out to the sides. Inhale and circle your arms forward, then exhale and circle them backward.
  3. Leg Springs: This exercise targets the lower body, including the legs and glutes. Start by lying on your back with your legs in the trapeze table’s leg springs. Inhale and lift your hips off the table, then exhale and lower your hips back down. Repeat this movement for several repetitions.
  4. Mermaid: This exercise targets the obliques and hips. Start by sitting on the edge of the trapeze table with your legs to one side and your arms on the opposite side of the table. Inhale and lift your hips off the table, then exhale and rotate your torso towards the leg that’s on the table. Repeat this movement on the other side.
  5. Teaser: This exercise is the ultimate Pilates exercise and targets the entire body. Start by lying on your back with your legs in the trapeze table’s leg springs. Inhale and lift your arms and legs off the table, then exhale and roll your body up into a seated position. Reverse the movement to return to the starting position.

Incorporating these essential Pilates exercises into your trapeze table workout routine will help you build strength, improve flexibility, and enhance your overall Pilates practice. Remember to always prioritize form over quantity, and never sacrifice proper alignment for the sake of completing more repetitions. Happy trapeze table training!
